Free crochet pattern: water bottle holder

Wow, it’s been a minute hasn’t it? I’ve not released a free pattern in a long while, so this one is way overdue. I’m having one of those weeks where all the inspiration is hitting me at once. It must be something to do with these long summer days - the sunshine giving me all that extra energy.

This project was inspired simultaneously by a stitch pattern I found on Pinterest, as well as some gorgeous yarn that I have had waiting in my stash for years. Both calling out to me to be made into something pretty and practical. Thus this water-bottle carrier was brought into existence.

It’s a very quick project, using simple stitches; so it could easily be worked up in one evening; ready for your day-trip or picnic the next day. The perfect summer accessory.

Pattern notes:

Written in US crochet terms.

This pattern is worked in the round, first crocheting a circular base, then working the lace pattern upwards to form the sides. It is then finished with a simple strap which is continued in rows and attached to the other side of the work.

The base is worked in a spiral, amigurumi style. You may wish to use stitch markers to keep track of your rows.

All chains at the start of rows/rounds count as a stitch unless otherwise stated.

When working chain stitches, skip the equivalent number of stitches from the row below.

It measures approximately 9cm x 20cm
