Introducing: The Sika Top

This project came to me in the spring this year. When I stumbled across the stitch pattern, I just knew I had to make something with it. To me, the pattern looks like eyes - and if you know me well, you know that I just love eyes as a design feature!

It wasn’t until much later that I started making the first version for myself. It came together quite intuitively, but getting pen to paper and figuring out the grading took much longer (isn’t that always the way!). The summer months, as well as other commitments, stole my time away; so it wasn’t until the end of the summer that I could finally put out a call for testers.

I received a fantastic response for testing, and am so happy to say that the process went pretty well! With my massive thanks and gratitude to my wonderful crew of testers, I can now put this pattern out into the world.

So without further ado, let me introduce you to my first adult garment pattern - the Sika Top.

It’s designed with a slightly oversized and cropped fit. Made with DK cotton, bamboo blend yarn - this top feels loose, comfortable and has a lovely drape to it. The lace side detail is what makes it special though. I specifically used Stylecraft Naturals Bamboo & Cotton DK, but any similar yarn will work just as well.

Pictured above Aster (@aster.cc) on the left and Dora (@la_nayellz) on the right.

The top can also be customised to make it shorter or longer, depending on your preferences. I have quite a short body, so I adjusted mine to be shorter as I wanted a more cropped fit.

It’s also the perfect blend of relaxing repeated stitches and sections that require a little more thinking to keep it interesting.

Clockwise from top left is Ann (@thecurlystitches), Emily (@emstitchesstuff), Stephanie (@askyrian) and Lucia (@wood.and.yarn).

The pattern is available to buy in both UK and US crochet terms via my shop (which is the cheapest option), or if you prefer you can also buy it on my other pages over on:

From left to right there is Alicia (@buffaloplaid_), Arpitha (@itrytocrochet) and Nadia (@morningmeadow.s).

I’d also like to give a shout-out to my other wonderful testers who aren’t pictured, but did a fantastic job and provided me with such helpful feedback:

This pattern wouldn’t be possible without each and every one of you - big love and massive thanks to you all!

I’m so excited to finally share this pattern with the world. If you give it a go, please remember to tag me in any of your pictures so that I can share them on my socials!

The pattern is discounted for this weekend (only in my webshop) - so now is the time to buy.

Happy crocheting friends!

Please be aware that I may earn a small commission via some of the links in this post in the form of discounts or a percentage of the sale if you go on to purchase. This will not affect you in any way and will help to support my small business - thank you :)
