Cool Girl Crochet Patterns for Halloween

I love Halloween and all the costumes, decorations and festivities involved but… I hate all the plastic! Don’t you?

Because of this a few years ago I decided to start making our Halloween celebrations more sustainable by choosing secondhand and handmade over new, over-produced, plastic cr*p. Don’t get me wrong, the kids’ costumes are still mostly plastic (it’s extremely hard to find affordable costumes made with natural materials) but they’re always secondhand and I believe this can sometimes be a better eco-alternative, especially if you’re saving something from landfill.

We like to decorate the house with pumpkins, leaves and a few decorations that are used every single year (again, some are plastic but I feel it’s better to reuse than throw-away). Some of the decorations we make ourselves, with cotton, paper and other biodegradable materials and these come out each year too. It can be lots of fun making new decorations with the kids, and a handmade costume wins every time right?

With all of this in mind, I’ve had some fun making a new collection of some of my favourite Halloween themed crochet patterns on Etsy.

All of the above patterns (and more) can be found via this link to my Etsy collection board.

As with most of my Etsy collections, it’s an ever-growing list - so please feel free to send me any cool patterns you’ve found on there! Halloween can be another great time of year to buy more sustainably and support independent designers too. So why not swap out your plastic pumpkins for a cool crochet version instead this year?

And let me know if you try any of these patterns - I’ll share any makes on my Instagram stories :)
